AS A TRAINER
Steven has worked with players of all levels, from beginners on up through the collegiate level to help players at all positions improve their efficiency on the court. He observes the players natural abilities and trains each individual player to their strengths until they become unstoppable at their natural abilities. Steven encourages consistency and a strong mindset to realize that becoming the best player possible is a marathon, not a sprint. This has shown to help players finish the season the same way they started, STRONG. The drills and workouts are designed to enhance the players skills, but also get them comfortable with the uncomfortable, and prepared to dominate. Being a 6’4” PG/SG, Steven, brings a guard specific perspective to how he trains. He knows that size does not determine position, skill level does. All aspects of your game will improve when training with Steven. He is a knock down shooter, great ball handler, team player and has played at the NCAA collegiate level. Not only will your game improve dramatically on the individual level, but you will also see how you can integrate what you learn into a team setting.
AS A PLAYER
Steven began playing basketball since before he can remember. He started playing on organized teams starting in 4th grade, and hasn’t looked back. Steven grew up watching, Kobe Bryant, and instantly fell in love with the creativity and ability to control the game, Kobe, showed. He often would set up a small hoop next to the TV and practice the same moves he watched his favorite players perform. Steven was doubted through high school and was only able to play one year at the varsity level. In that one year he lead his team to win the conference, and gave them the opportunity to participate in the CIF SS Playoffs. That year, Steven, was also named First Team All Conference.
His family lives in Camarillo, CA, where he grew up and went to school at Camarillo High. After graduating, Steven took year off to train with Optimum Basketball as a player looking to make it to the next level. Not receiving and looks out of high school, Steven began to train tirelessly with Optimum’s own Brandon Cochran. After a year, Steven, began to send tapes and call schools outside of California, seeking an athletic scholarship. He found success and was awarded a full ride athletic scholarship to Murray State College in Tishamingo, Ok. Steven was a Freshman starter at the SG position. He was able to lead his team to a National NJCAA Tournament appearance. Shortly after, Steven transferred to Ventura College, where he played his Sophomore season, his team was ranked in the top 3 in California. From Ventura College, Steven, transferred to play at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. He spent his final two seasons there with the Argonauts as a starting SG/SF. While at NDNU, Steven gained some very valuable lessons about school, basketball and training while he competed in the very competitive NCAA Div II PacWest Conference and at the same time finding success in the classroom, studying Business Management.
